RE: Community Notice
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation has implemented a wide
variety of public health measures within a number of respective jurisdictions to prevent and to
control SARS-CoV-2 transmission, including implementing restrictive measures such as stay at
home orders, closures of public gathering places such as schools, day cares, non-essential
businesses, and restrictions on gatherings and travel.
The implementation of these measures has varied in context of the timing and intensity of
COVID-19 activity within the community.
To date, poor adherence or complete disregard to these implementation measures are now threatening the well-being of the community.
All members must do their part within our pandemic response and recovery plan to
minimize overall deaths and minimize disruption as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
To reiterate the key direction of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Chief and Council released April 22, 2019:
For clarity purposes NO TRAVEL INCLUDES the use of ATVs/UTVs/and other self- propelled vehicles.
At the time of this release, our community contact list exceeds 160 members – this is not sustainable in the course of time.
If you witness a breech or violation to the current public health measures, contact security at 204-851-0810.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work to avert further crisis within the Nation.
Respectfully,
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Chief and Council
