Community Transmission of COVID-19 is happening in Manitoba.
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation (SVDN) will be imposing a community lockdown effective Thursday, November 12, 2020. A lockdown involves a series of measures that are intended to minimize risk to the Oyate and staff. Early strategic planning and groundwork for evolving and established challenges are crucial to assemble resources and react in an appropriate timely manner.
Educations of COVID-19 caseloads have been linked with the cessation of public transport, educational institutions, the closing of entertainment and business centres, and the prohibition of public meetings.
Effective November 12, 2020, many SVDN Programs will be operating from a “by appointment only” principal including DakotaNET, the Self-Government office, Public Works, Health, and Central Finance which remains Closed to the public.
Nonessential travel out of the community is prohibited
Social gatherings are prohibited.
Fines that violate public health orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic has more then doubled to $1,296.00.
