JANITORIAL WORKER (2) Full-time/Part-time

POSITION SUMMARY: The Janitorial Worker is responsible for keeping the building, office areas and property of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation in clean and in orderly condition.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Sweep and wash floors
  • Remove and dispose of garbage
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers
  • Clean kitchen area including the refrigerator, stove and dishes
  • Maintain cleaning supply inventory and order supplies for each building
  • Clean, sanitize, and supply the restrooms
  • Quarterly cleaning of walls, windows, and appliances
  • Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs to building
  • Set up, cleaning and maintenance of Veterans Hall before and after events
  • Some light outdoor duties such as picking up garbage and clearing snow off walkways and steps in the winter
  • Perform after hours on call duty as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality required 
  • Prior janitorial experience considered an asset
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
  • Ability to lift heavy, stand, walk, and bend for long periods of time
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to manage time efficiently and to work individually as well as within a team
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and must be a team player 
  • Valid drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle 
  • Subject to a Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Checks required
