Sioux Valley Dakota Nation – Employment Opportunity – Human Resource Assistant (2021.10.15)

Position Summary: Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Human Resource (HR) Assistant is responsible for but is not limited to: recruitment, screening, orientation, and training, tracking HR data and statistics, and other areas as directed. Clerical work will include filing and maintaining accurate, up-to-date HR filing systems and personnel records, and drafting reports.

Leads and manages the operations and delivery of programs and services (finance, administration, information
technology/systems) for SVDN members and employees by:
– Prepare job advertisements as required and ensure current inventory of all job postings
– Collect, screen, and select applicants for interviews in a timely manner, along with reference checks
– Maintain accurate and comprehensive employee personnel records
– Assist with payroll and benefits administration as required
– Maintain employee training attendance records in personnel files
– Respond to internal and external Human Resources related inquiries from clients, program managers,
and other parties
– Organize, maintain, and coordinate office records and employee personnel files
– Respond and answer questions regarding employees records and files
– Eliminate unnecessary or outdated materials, destroying them or transferring them to inactive storage
according to file maintenance / legal guidelines
– Remain current on Employment Standards, Human Rights, and other legislative and legal requirements
regarding Human Resources
– Other duties will be assigned, as necessary
– Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or a related field preferred
– Experience as a Human Resources Assistant
– Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and comprehension
– Excellent time management, problem-solving skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
– Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and personal information in a highly confidential manner
– Proficient in Microsoft Office products and data management
– Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Clear Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check
– Valid drivers license
– Knowledge of Indigenous cultural, customs, values, and traditions
