SVDN Health – Youth Workers (1 Female – 1 Male) – (2022.03.22)

POSITION SUMMARY: Sioux Valley Dakota Nation recognizes the value of supporting the social and self-development of the community’s young people. Through a Youth Worker, activities designed will provide a fun, safe, and challenging space for youth to learn and work together. These indoor and outdoor activities will be varied. Participants in youth activities develop self-confidence, leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

• Sets and maintains working relationships with Sioux Valley Education, Sioux Valley
Health Centre, Child and Family Services, as well as other agencies
• Organizes a schedule of daily, weekly, and monthly activities for various age groups
• Coordinates and facilitates youth forums/gatherings to share ideas, plans, initiatives,
and strategies (short-, medium-, and long-term planning and development)
• Coordinates youth workshops that and promote positive lifestyles as opposed to
negative lifestyles that affect the individual, families, and community
• Promotes and facilitates Career Days for the youth to discuss future career choices
and the importance of education
• Grade 10 equivalency and/or Grade 12 High School Diploma
• Must have valid Manitoba Driver’s License
• Successful completion of Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search & Child
Abuse Registry Check, or proof of submission
• Must demonstrate leadership and organizational skills
• Previous experience in working with the youth
