
Dakota Iapi Projects Advisory Committee
Purpose:
The primary function of the Committee will be to focus on reversing the trend of language extinction within the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation. To provide advice on how to engage and facilitate community membership participation in the Dakota Iapi Project and to provide guidance and support to the Project Coordinator and Dakota Language & Cultural instructors in teaching in a respectful manner. To emphasize the philosophy that “language is about expresison of history; man’s relationship to the environment and the animals that surround us; kinship relationships with those we live with and our spiritual relationship with out Creator’.
Term:
The Terms of reference for the Committee are effective from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2023, unless terminated by agreement between parties.
Membership:
The Dakota Iapi Project Advisory Committee will comprise of seven (7) Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Citizens.
