C&C COVID PCR Testing Memo (2022.02.03)

Attention Wipazoka Wakpa Oyate,
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation continues to report on the recorded number of COVID-19 cases. It is important to recognize this data is limited and should be used with caution. It includes cases confirmed by a PCR test as well as rapid tests given by health-care professionals. Positive test results from rapid antigen tests, which people do at home, are not collected or reported. As a result, these dashboard numbers are an under-reporting of COVID-19 within our community. At this time, we encourage anyone who does test positive with a home test kit to contact the Health Centre at 204-855-2690 to disclose your results.
While COVID-19 vaccination rates are increasing, community transmission of COVID-19 is occurring and case counts are rising quickly. We must exercise extreme caution in the following days.
If you tested positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms, regardless of vaccination status, stay home for 10 days and isolate from others in your home. Wear a well-fitted mask if you must be around others in your home.
You can end your isolation period after 10 full days if you are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and your symptoms are improving.
If you have questions, please contact the Sioux Valley Health Centre at 204-855-2690.
Thank you for helping keep our community safe,

  • Sioux Valley Chief and Council
