The Citizenship Committee was established in November of 2019 by the Leadership of Sioux Valley Dakota Nation. The Citizenship Committee consists of the following members: Sharon Tacan, Jaydee Elk, Kimberley G McKay, Lorraine Pompana, and Cheryl McKay. The Citizenship Committee has been meeting since being appointed and have developed a proposed Sioux Valley Dakota Oyate Citizenship Law. The citizenship of SVDN will vote on the proposed Sioux Valley Dakota Oyate Citizenship Law on April 29, 2021.
The proposed Sioux Valley Dakota Oyate Citizenship Law will assure that Sioux Valley Dakota Nation has full control over citizenship and that citizens have access to the benefits associated with citizenship. The proposed Sioux Valley Dakota Oyate Citizenship Law will protect our citizen’s rights and freedoms now and for future generations.
Please join the Citizenship Committee in an online Engagement Session on March 25 and April 19 via Zoom. This is your opportunity to ask the committee questions and have a discussion regarding the proposed Sioux Valley Dakota Oyate Citizenship Law.
