The Sioux Valley Dakota Nation (SVDN) is seeking calls for letters of interest from interested citizens to participate on the SVDN Appeal Board for the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Election for Chief and Council to be held in October 2021. The Election Appeal Board shall supervise and administer all Election appeals, in accordance with the provisions of the Sioux Valley Dakota Oyate Election Law (amended June 10, 2021).
Criteria:
Be a citizen of the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.
The Election Appeal Board members shall not participate or be involved in the Election process in any manner whatsoever. Each Election Appeal Board member shall execute a written undertaking stating that he or she shall not run for office of Chief or Councillor or vote in the Election.
Restriction:
No member of the Election Appeal Board shall be a member of the outgoing Sioux Valley Dakota Oyate Council, or a Candidate in the upcoming Election.
Selection Process:
Appeal Board Member letters of interest will be reviewed and selected by a vote during a special Elders Meeting on August 6, 2021, in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.
Term of office:
The members of the Election Appeal Board shall hold office until all appeals have been determined in the 2021 Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Chief and Council election.

Please submit letters of interest in person at the Intergovernmental Relations and Implementation Office (formerly Self-Government), or via email to self.government@svdngovernance.com. The deadline for submission of letters is August 4, 2021.
