SVDN Community Notice COVID-19 Prevention and Community Lockdown (01.18.21)

ATTENTION DAKOTA OYATE:

Your assistance in preventing the spread of COVID-19 is appreciated. Sioux Valley Dakota Nation declared a community lockdown in response to the pandemic. Similarly, the province declared a state of emergency March 20th. Orders are in effect for the Prairie Mountain Health region under The Public Health Act. 

They include: 

  • restrictions on public gatherings to five or fewer people, 
  • the closure of non-essential businesses, 
  • requirements to wear a mask in all indoor public places, and 
  • enforcement of social distancing measures by businesses and services that remain open, including ensuring a two-metre (2m) distance is kept between people in the facility or premises. 

Violating COVID-19 health orders and failing to properly self-isolate is punishable by fine. Provincial fines for people who break public health rules are $1,296.00.

Enforcement agencies can be notified about possible violations of the public health orders by calling 1-866-626-4862 (toll-free) and pressing 3 on the call menu.

Effective immediately, SVDN will be reducing its entry and exit points and increasing its Security presence at dedicated checkpoints.  When approaching the checkpoints, we request all vehicle occupants wear an appropriately fitting face mask covering both mouth and nose.  

Membership is also reminded at this time suspicious activity can be reported to 1-204- 908-0466.  It is only with your support that we can continue to protect our community;
