POWER OUTAGE NOTICE: Sioux Valley Dakota Nation
Residents are advised that a power outage is currently affecting the community due to storm-related damage. Crews are assessing the damage and working diligently to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.
Estimated Time of Power Restoration: Between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM today.
We understand the inconvenience this outage may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation while repairs are underway.
Safety and Energy Conservation Tips During the Outage
- Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to preserve food for as long as possible.
- Unplug sensitive electronics and appliances to protect them from power surges when electricity is restored.
- Leave one light switched on so you will know when power has been restored.
- Use flashlights or battery-powered lanterns instead of candles whenever possible to reduce fire hazards.
- Conserve cell phone battery life by limiting non-essential use and lowering screen brightness.
- If using a generator, ensure it is operated outdoors and away from all doors, windows, and air intakes.
- Check on Elders, individuals with medical needs, and other vulnerable community members who may require assistance.
- If a battery operated sump pump is in operation within your home, please notify Sioux Valley Housing Authority immediately if any warning prompts are noticed (i.e. flashing lights, audible alarm).
