Welcome to the 2026-2027 School Year: Important Start Dates & Updates
Dear Parent(s)/ Guardians and Students,
As we look toward the fall, our staff and administration are incredibly excited to welcome our students back to school. We have navigated a challenging summer together, and our focus this September is on bringing our students back to the school to learn, and reconnect with, regular classroom instruction as well as through land-based experiences.
First Day of Classes (K-12): Wednesday, September 9th, 2026
Early Years & High School Students: Classes will resume with a normal, standard daily schedule inside the building starting September 9th, 2026.
Middle Years Students (Grades 3-8): For the first month of the school year, our Middle Years students will be stepping outside the traditional classroom walls to participate in an immersive Land-Based Learning program. We are thrilled to offer this hands-on cultural and environmental experience as we kick off the year. More details regarding outdoor gear and schedules will be sent to middle years parents shortly.
* **Nursery & Headstart Programs:**
Due to current space and building restrictions resulting from our summer closures, Nursery and Headstart students cannot be accommodated in the main school building at this time. We are actively working on an alternative plan for these programs and will update those specific families as soon as a timeline and location are confirmed.
We are so deeply proud of the resilience this community has shown, and we cannot wait to see our students on September 9th 2026.
**A follow-up post will provide more details regarding repairs to the school, student registration days, bus routes and pickup times for students attending Sioux Valley School and those students attend provincial schools. A school calendar will be posted in the near future as well.
