Sioux Valley Dakota Nation will be sharing regular photos and videos in this posting and we will continue to update when new images and videos become available.
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation has endured several floods in the past, and we’ve been monitoring the Manitoba Flood of 2026 for several weeks prior to it even reaching SVDN. On Friday, July 3, Councillor Jon Bell mobilized our Flood Readiness Team. By Saturday morning, the Flood Team was in full swing, calling in volunteers, making necessary calls for government support and utilizing all means of communication to prepare our community for the coming waters. For a week, SVDN members, volunteers, youth and staff all worked toward protecting our community and have all done an amazing job. By Friday, July 10th, 2026, Councillor Bell received some great reports in regard to our flood levels…we were seeing a “plateau” of the flood waters overall, and even some decreased levels in other areas. While we certainly aren’t done with our flood efforts, hearings some positive news reassured many and left all in positive spirits.
We have plateaued, now we wait to see if this is also the crest.
