SVDN Health Memo

We have re-structured the Home and Community Care Department! Tamara Eastman will now be supervising the programming with Sky Blacksmith taking on the role of Lead Health Care Aide. If you have any concerns, questions, referrals or needs please call us and ask to speak to Tamara.

Lydia Taylor has moved into an Implementation Coordinator role. She will be assisting us with the delivery of many of our projects. She is busy working on organizing the roll out of the Life Line Project and will be in touch with community members, who are in need of this service, in the near future.

We have also welcomed Marla Little to our HCC department as a Home Maker and we are happy to have her as a part of our team!

WE are excited about these changes and hope that they will improve the services we are providing. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

Medical Transportation has undergone some changes to the programming we deliver to the community. We are now providing transportation to and from Brandon for medical appointments at Dr. Benning and Dr.Decter’s offices on Tuesday and Thursdays. We are assessing the needs for other Brandon clinics and will make necessary changes if there is community need. WE have specific criteria for this service, please call Health for more information.

We are also offering transportation to Winnipeg for specialist appointments and surgeries as we are able. Please call us in advance to make arrangements, so that we can try to meet your needs.

You may notice that we have increased our fleet of vehicles! The nurses will now have a vehicle that will be able to make house calls with necessary supplies for dressing changes and basic first aid.

We are hoping that these changes will increase the ability to access services and allow for us to have a greater reach to the community as a whole.

The Community Health Team is also starting to offer services that have been deferred due to the pandemic. You will see information coming out soon regarding Healthy Baby Initiatives, Diabetic Education and Services, Immunization Clinics and much more. Please stay tuned for updates on social media, posters and mail outs!!

Our addictions department will be offering a “Day Treatment” program in July and August. The program will be based on the 7 Sacred Teachings and will have a celebration at the end for those who complete the program. Posters are being distributed this week or you can call Health for more information. If you or a loved one could benefit from this program you may call either Justin or Melissa (at Health) to register.

And Last but definitely not least!! We will be welcoming a Nurse Practitioner into the community during the first week of August. Please stay tuned for further details regarding dates and times of services.
