This decision was made after careful consideration, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding and continued support.
We are pleased to confirm that Dakota Nation Winterfest will return in January 2027, where we look forward to welcoming everyone back for a strong, vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture, sport, and community.

Dakota Nation Winterfest Postponed Until January 2027
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation – The Sioux Valley Dakota Nation (SVDN) announces that Dakota Nation Winterfest, originally scheduled for January 2026, has been postponed. This decision was made following careful review of planning, operations, and event readiness.
Dakota Nation Winterfest is one of the largest Indigenous-hosted winter events on the prairies, bringing together families, athletes, artists, and visitors from across Turtle Island. SVDN leadership recognizes the importance of this event to our community and partners, and we remain committed to ensuring Winterfest continues at the high standard our Nation is known for.
Return in January 2027
SVDN is pleased to confirm that Dakota Nation Winterfest will return in January 2027. Planning efforts will resume with a focus on strengthening partnerships, and community participation to ensure a revitalized and memorable Winterfest experience.
