Cancellation of the “Healing the Generations Gathering”
It is with heavy hearts, we wish to inform the public that the upcoming event, “Healing the Generations Gathering: Nations and Family Leading our Next Steps Forward” at the Brandon Indian Residential Schools,” scheduled for August 19-21, 2024 has been cancelled. This decision follows the recent announcement of funding cute by Crown Indigenous Relations & Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC), which has impacted our ability to host this important gathering.
The Healing the Generations Gathering was aimed at bringing together First Nations, survivors, families, and communities to reflect on our shared history, foster healing, and strategize our path forward. We recognize the significance of this event for our communities and are disappointed that we will not be able to proceed as planned.
As we realign our current finding and explore alternate avenues for support, we remain hopeful that we will be able to announce another gathering in the near future. We deeply appreciate the interest and support from our communities and partners, and we are committed to creating opportunities for healing and collaboration.
