Re: Birdtail Sioux First Nation 2025 Elections
The Leadership of the Dakota Grand Council is providing a formal statement on the current Birdtail Sioux First Nation Election.
The Grand Council Leadership wanted to state that it is the position of each leader to respect the election process within Birdtail Sioux First Nation and as such will not be participating in community meetings and activities related to the Birdtail Sioux Election.
While the Grand Council is supportive of all candidates and are committed to provide governance advice and leadership support in the advancement of the overall Dakota Nation within Manitoba, the leaders are careful to respect that the election of Chief and Council are driven solely by the will of the community members themselves.
Each election is an opportunity to advance the specific interests and expectations of each individual Dakota Nation, and the Chiefs of the Dakota Grand Council wishes the Candidates and the Community Members of Birdtail Sioux First Nation well during the election process.
