This section of the website is to highlight the work our Lands department has done with our youth. The effort to educate our future generations on lands, food, energy and soverighty has been a high priority and we hope to highlight that work here.
NCIAF - How Dakota youth Are Keeping Sacred Knowledge Alive
James Pratt, our Lands Committee Chairman, as well as one of our SVDN High School Teachers, was an advocate for keeping our lands clean and pesticide free, while also being self-sustaining. James was instrumental in much of the work we were doing, with the goal of self-sustaining food sources and incorporating the community in the process. This video is a tribute to him, his memory, and some of the work he did that could positively affect the community for years to come.
The video presented is an overview of the SVDN FACTS Camp and what we hope to accomplish here in Sioux Valley Dakota Nation. With the current prices of groceries and how inflation is affecting everyone, food sovereignty and food security become a high priority. In working with different Groups, funders and partners, we are working toward food sovereignty and security, as well as becoming self-sustaining within the community. We hope to create access to affordable, safe, healthy foods that are sourced and harvested within Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.
