SVDN Ec-Dev Notice – SVDN Petro Converting to Gen7 Fuel Station (2026.09.14-30)

After careful consideration, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation has decided to transition our station from Petro-Canada/Suncor to Gen7. This wasn’t simply a decision about changing fuel brands. Leadership considered what was best for long-term economic success and most importantly, what would create the greatest benefit for Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.

Gen7 is a First Nations-owned fuel company that partners with First Nations across Canada. Their model gives Nations greater control over their businesses, better pricing, and creates opportunities that go beyond simply selling fuel.

As part of the transition, the community will begin to see new Gen7 branding and signage, new technology and operating systems, and station improvements, including adding a proper truck stop and commercial units to support our visitors. There will be a transition period while this work takes place, and we appreciate everyone’s patience while our staff and the Gen7 team complete the changeover between now and early spring 2027.

One of the biggest opportunities will be expanding what our station can offer. This includes developing a sovereign tobacco strategy under Sioux Valley Dakota Nation’s own laws and authority, along with other initiatives that can increase the revenue generated and kept within our Nation.

Most importantly, this remains Sioux Valley Dakota Nation’s station.

The purpose of this change is to strengthen our business, create more opportunities for our people and ensure that more of the economic activity happening on our lands benefits our community. We are excited about this next chapter and believe the move to Gen7 gives us an opportunity to build something stronger for our Nation.

Our lands. Our business. Our future.

Pidamaya,
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Leadership
