Attention Sioux Valley Dakota Nation:
In response to the ongoing heatwave and rising temperatures in our area, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation has opened a Cooling Station at the Community Centre to help keep our community members safe and well.
Effective Immediately:
Location: Sioux Valley Community Centre
Hours: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., 7 days a week (subject to change)
Services Available:
Air-conditioned rest area
Cold water and light refreshments
Washroom facilities
Charging station for phones
Support staff on site
All community members—especially Elders, those with chronic conditions, young children, and individuals without air conditioning—are encouraged to make use of this space during the heat. Transportation support may be available for those in need. Please contact the Health Centre for assistance.
Let’s continue to look out for one another and check in on those who may be vulnerable during extreme weather conditions. If you or someone you know is experiencing signs of heat exhaustion (e.g., dizziness, nausea, headache, confusion), please seek help immediately.
