Jordan’s Principle – Support for Application Process
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Health would like to remind community members that Jordan’s Principle is available to help ensure that all First Nations children and youth can access the supports and services they need, when they need them.
Under current Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) guidelines, Jordan’s Principle can assist families in the application process for eligible services and supports. This includes help with gathering information, completing forms, and submitting applications for health, social, and educational needs.
Examples of Supports Jordan’s Principle Can Assist With:
• Health services and assessments
• Specialized equipment and mobility aids
• Educational supports, tutoring, or technology for learning
• Mental health and wellness services
• Cultural and land-based activities promoting well-being
Who Can Apply:
• Parents or guardians of a First Nations child
• Youth aged 16–17 on their own behalf
• Community service providers or advocates (with consent)
