On July 1, 2017, Sioux Valley held its July 1st celebration with a day full of free family fun for all ages. Events kicked off a 9 in the morning, with 3on3 basketball and baseball registration opening. By 10 am they were in full swing with a bike race taking place as well. By lunch time, there was a full array of activities for youth to participate in as well, including high jump, balloon toss, tug-o-war, 2 bouncy castles and a belly flop contest. Music and a sound system was set up by Councillor Elton Taylor for the youth to learn a few basics in DJ’ing throughout the day. Activities continued throughout the day which included archery, horseshoes, volleyball, strongman and strongwoman competitions and wagon rides. A barbecue supper was provided and even more events continued after supper. Three legged races, backward races, wheel barrel races, water bucket relay races and egg toss. Music continued on into the evening as more people arrived in anticipation of the fireworks show to cap off the day.
