RE: IMPORTANT NOTICE
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation Chief and Council along with the health department staff and Incident Command have been having an ongoing discussion of prevention measures for COVID-19 within our Nation. As many of you are aware, the Chief and Council have instituted a travel precaution based on the ongoing threat outside our Nation.
Following several confirmed media releases, we can conclude with certainty COVID-19 is present outside of facility-based environments. As in the instance of Brandon, Manitoba, this is to say the virus is very much present in the community setting.
Please keep in mind we remain in a “state of emergency” and the Manitoba public health orders are still in effect. We stress the importance of taking precautions:
- AVOID unnecessary travel;
- PRACTICE social distancing;
- LIMIT gatherings;
- CONTINUE to wash your hands frequently;
- AVOID shaking hands;
- PRACTICE sough and sneeze etiquette ( cough or sneeze into your sleeve);
- REPORT symptoms (i.e cough, fever, runny nose, shortness of breath, diarrhea) promptly.
Please assist us in following the preventative measures COVID-19 to ensure the safety and wellness of our community,
Chief Jennifer Bone
Councillor Elton Taylor
Councillor Anthony D. Tacan
Councillor Jamie Hall
