September 10 2019 is World Suicide Prevention Day. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness that suicide can be prevented.
Sioux Valley Health Center in conjunction with Dakota Tiwahe Services held their annual walk Oyate Wiconi Pi Kte – Prevention Walk to raise awareness of Suicide Prevention in our community.
Margaret Roscelli, the Director of Health ” Let’s walk in prayer, remembering those who have gone on. Pray for our youth and our children so that they can grow up without having to think about suicidal thoughts.
Our Community and people have been affected by suicide whether it be directly or indirectly and we know the heart ache of losing a member of our community.
Despite the weather there was a number of community members who participated in this years walk.
The community members started from the Sioux Valley Health Center and walk to the Sioux Valley School and returned back to the Health Center where they finished off with a barbecue.
