SVDN – National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (2023.09.30)

On July 20th, 2021 the Government of Canada officially passed legislation to make September 30th a Federal Statutory Holiday known as the ‘National Day for Truth and Reconciliation’.

Formerly ‘Orange Shirt Day’, this day provides an opportunity for the public to recognize and commemorate the legacy and impact of Indian Residential Schools.

To acknowledge this day SVDN would like to ask the directors, program managers and staff to either submit clips (filmed in LANDSCAPE (sideways) MODE) or coordinate with Daniza to come up to the Communications Building to record anytime from the 22nd to the 28th. (Bonus if you are able to wear orange!)

Topics for discussion:

1.) What does ‘Reconciliation’ mean to you
2.) Why is this day important to you
3.) As this is the 3rd Year of the ‘National Day for Truth and Reconciliation’ becoming a Federal Statutory Holiday, what would be your message to people who are just learning about this topic?

To submit your video clips or arrange filming please email: daniza.depaola@svdngovernance.com Submissions will be open until Thursday the 28th.
