SVDN Representatives Attend Southern First Nations Network Of Care Forum (2022.03.14-15)

Representatives from the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation (SVDN) made presentation to the Southern Chiefs Organization and Southern First Nations Network of Care Forum held on March 14-15, 2022. The presentation was an update on the SVDN process to transform Child and Family Services to a C-92 approach and the development of a SVDN Child and Family Law that is inclusive of Dakota culture and worldview. Bill C-92 An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit, and Metis children, youth and families, affirms the right and jurisdiction of Indigenous peoples in relation to child and family services and sets out principles applicable on a national level to the provision of child and family services in relation to Indigenous children.
