Youth Spotlight – Tiara Bell (2024.03.21)

Tiara Bell, 17, is a Senior 4 (Grade 12) SVDN student at Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School in Brandon, Manitoba. Daughter of the late Darren Bell and Amanda Blacksmith, Tiara has been raised by her grandparents, Wanda & Gerry Bell and surrounding family for the last few years. Initially transferring to Crocus to learn cosmetology, COVID made her learning experience quite difficult. Switching her focus after COVID to culinary and photography better suited he long term goals and she has planned to get into Media Arts after high school.

After transferring to Crocus Plains, she was encouraged by family and friends to participate in extracurricular activities. The arts initially drew her in, but not the spotlight itself. Instead, she chose to get her first experiences as a part of the production crew, assisting with microphones and sound production for these past 2 years. In this, her graduating year, she finally steps out onto the stage. Taking a smaller role in Crocus Plains Major Production of Mean Girls, we are proud of her gradual progression in theatre and arts. As Konstantin Stanislavski remarked, “there are no small parts, only small actors”, to which Tiara surely stand out.

2 years ago, Tiara had a student summer job with SVDN’s Communications department, and we feel that had a nice influence on here future goals. Learning and excelling many areas which aided her school studies in photography and digital media, as well as her future at Assiniboine Community College, having been accepted into their Interactive Media Arts program in the fall. We wish her all the best in her bright future both behind the scenes and in the spotlight.
